I will be a passionate advocate on this not based on ideology but based on facts and science, and I hope to sit with all of you and convince you that this $6 trillion market is worth millions of American jobs and we better go after it.

Overall, great comments today at his confirmation hearing. Watch it.

Well, you know, I’ll tell you, Mr. Chairman. When I first came to Washington and testified, I obviously was testifying as part of the group of people who came here to have their voices heard. And that is above all what this place is about.

Sounds like Obama, right?

It’s actually Ronald Reagan. Watch video of this speech from 1985, compared with Obama’s recent tax hike speech, brought to you by ThinkProgress.

I say it is much ado about nothing: many presidents have vacationed at questionably-named resorts. For instance, Chester A. Arthur spent all his summers at ‘Thieving Chinaman Springs.’ And Richard Nixon used to go fly-fishing at ‘Jews Control The Media Creek.’ Even Barack Obama spends a lot of time at Camp David, which — until recently — only admitted white presidents.
